A SCARCE 14-BORE DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING-GUN OF PIGEON WEIGHT, no visible serial number,
for between 1839-41, with 31 3/4in. iron barrels, broad flat top-rib signed 'JAMES & GEORGE GIBBS, 4 REDCLIFFE STREET BRISTOL', bead fore-sight, engraved rib-end at breech with twin platinum lines, moulded shallow percussion fences, acanthus engraved top-tang, platinum plugs, acanthus engraved locks with central scenes of gamebirds and dipped tails, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist (worn near smooth), iron furniture and brass tipped wood ramrod (worm cover absent), weight approximately 8 1/4lbs
