A 20 BORE CONTINENTAL DOUBLE BARREL PERCUSSION SPORTING GUN SIGNED PIQVLT" CIRCA 1840, no visible serial number, with 33 1/2ins. barrels the left barrel flat stamped "PIQVLT A.I.C", the locks in typical continental style are of rounded form probably converted from flintlock are plain and unmarked and fitted with dolphin headed hammers, the right lock with defective sear, iron mounted walnut half-stocked, with chequered wrist and plain forend, the mounts include butt-plate with long tang, the trigger guard with engraved decoration to bow and long decorative finial, the barrels damaged at the muzzle and to a brown / grey patina, the stock quite sharp with some losses to the right forend including a tapering piece approx. 3" long above the lock, rod a poor replacement.
