circa 1780, the blade of flattened diamond shape, 26in. long and with deep narrow fullers to both sides decorated with stamped letter 'X's' and 'O's' (possibly formed from an earlier rapier blade), plain wood shaft with later brass and copper reinforcing bands, iron mount at join and wood bun pommel
