for 1936, 26in. nitro barrels, the rib gold-inlaid '2' and engraved 'CHARLES HELLIS & SONS LTD. 121 & 123 EDGWARE ROAD. HYDE PARK. LONDON. W.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and full choke, toplever gold-inlaid '2', automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, rolled-edge triggerguard, feathered and beaded border engraving surrounding bold acanthus scrollwork and the 'crossed feathers' motif, retaining much original colour-hardening and finish, 14 1/2in. stock with recessed engraved steel strengthening plates, including leather-covered recoil pad, weight 6lb. 3oz., in its makers canvas and leather case

Provenance: This gun is accompanied by a copy of an article penned by esteemed author and historian, Donald Dallas, which was published in the Shooting Gazette in April 2014. In the article the gun is recorded as being the last 'Featherweight' gun ever made by Hellis in 1936, as the No.2 gun of a pair. The gun was held in store by them until January 1942 when it was sold to a 'Kirkman' for the sum of £54
