A RARE SPECIAL ORDER .177 BSA LIGHT-PATTERN 'IMPROVED MODEL D' UNDER-LEVER AIR-RIFLE, WITH FACTORY PEEP-SIGHT, serial no. 44392,
for 1910, with 17in. barrel, replacement dove-tailed fore-sight, rear-sight absent, loading tap at breech, plain air-chamber marked 'THE BSA AIR-RIFLE (IMPROVED MODEL 'D'), THE BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO. LTD. ENGLAND, SOLE MANUFACTURERS', single pin trigger unit, walnut saw-handled butt-stock marked '13 1/4' behind the grip and fitted with a flush-folding peep-sight to top of wrist, ribbed heel and short side-catch under-lever with patent stamps, originally with eyelets for sling (front absent), strong traces of original finish below light surface corrosion
Provenance: This unusual air-rifle appears to have been originally fitted with the twin-leaf folding rear-sight of the Junior and also factory swivel-eyes and of course the folding peep-sight
