A FINE CASED PERCUSSION DOUBLE RIFLE SIGNED R.T. PRITCHETT WITH 34-BORE POLY TWO-GROOVE BARRELS BY ALEX. HENRY, serial numbered 3222 and 396,
manufactured circa 1860, with browned 28in. barrels rifled with two deep grooves and poly-grooved lands, broad squared top-rib matted for the last half and signed in script 'ALEX'R HENRY, 8 SOUTH ST. ANDREWS STREET, EDINBURGH', applied fore-sight, rear-sight of one standing and three folding leaves, colour hardened breech-blocks with vented platinum plugs, broad, borderline and fully scroll engraved top-tang, borderline colour-hardened bar-action locks signed 'R.T. PRITCHETT', blued safes, borderline engraved colour hardened hammers, chequered walnut half-stock with blued iron furniture except for a colour hardened circular patchbox engraved with a garter surrounding the initials 'S.R.', the whole remaining in fine condition and complete with its brass cornered oak case with leather slip outer-sleeve, the interior lined in embossed leather and retaining its Alexander Henry bullet mould, leather covered powder flask and other sundry accessories
Provenance: This rifle was built for a Mr Struan Robertson in around 1860. Donald Dallas notes the production of the barrels in his work, Alexander Henry, Riflemaker and they are noted as 'Barrels only, 34-bore, 2-grooves & Poly'
