* A RARE .32 (IDEAL) WINCHESTER MODEL 1885 'HIGH-WALL' SPECIAL ORDER RIFLE, serial no. 103360,
for 1916 (see notes below), with No.3 weight blued octagonal 30in. barrel signed on the top-flat 'MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO., NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A. PATENTED OCTOBER 7. 1879', folding bead and ring fore-sight, the rear-sight dove-tail with blanking plate, calibre marking at breech, colour hardened slab-sided falling block action (colour faded), automatic cocking hammer, the top-tang fitted with a period folding pillar peep-sight, walnut butt-stock with crescent heel-plate, single set trigger (set not operating) and walnut splinter fore-end with ebony inlay at tip
Provenance: This rifle was produced right towards the end of the Model 1885 production. Indeed, between the years 1914-1917, only eleven rifles were manufactured, this being one of eight produced in 1916
