A PATTERN 1845/54 PIQUET-WEIGHT INFANTRY OFFICER'S SWORD SIGNED HOBSON & SONS,
circa 1880, with 32in. single-edged nickel-steel blade fullered and etched with scroll-work and VR cypher on both sides, ricasso with brass 'proved' plug with 'HOBSON / & SONS / LITTLE / WINDMILL St. / LONDON', brass 'Gothic' hilt with pierced guard with VR cypher, copper wire-bound fish-skin grip, remains of period sword-knot, together with its nickel-steel scabbard with two suspension loops, some blinded pitting towards the blade point, some wear to the grip and pitting and shallow denting to the scabbard, 38 1/2in. overall
