AN EXCEPTIONALLY RARE BRASS KYNOCH TARGET BALL,
circa 1885, approximately 2 1/8in. diameter and formed from two halves seamed around the circumference and containing powdered contents, one end stamped 'KYNOCH' (dented) and retaining much apparently original black paint finish

Provenance: Produced by G. Kynoch as a competitor to the Bogardus-type glass target, these thin brass spheres were not met with much enthusiasm by the shooting fraternity. They were very light, flew extremely fast from a spring-arm launcher and often failed to disgorge their coloured contents when hit
