A GOOD CASED PAIR OF .650 PERCUSSION OFFICER'S PISTOLS SIGNED T. MURCOTT, serial numbered 439,
circa 1860, with browned octagonal damascus 8in. barrels signed on the top-flats 'T. MURCOTT 68 HAYMARKET LONDON' and terminating in the serial numbers, the left side of both barrels additionally numbered APX-44-EX-73 & APX-44-EX-73, the numbers being Indian Arsenal registration marks, border and scroll engraved colour hardened breech-blocks, bead fore-sights and standing notch rear-sights, fully engraved top-tangs, borderline and scroll engraved colour hardened locks signed on the bars 'T. MURCOTT', sliding safes behind the scroll engraved dolphin-headed hammers, walnut full-stocks with moulded drop-points behind the locks and side-cheeks, chequered bag-shaped grips, clipped corner vacant rectangular escutcheons to wrists, plain triggers with blued bows and tangs and captive iron under-barrel ramrods, both pistols retaining much apparent original finish and appearing little used in their maker's walnut storage case lined and compartmented in green baize, T. Murcott trade label inside lid and retaining a period mould, breech-brush, loading rod, nipple key, oil-bottle and flask
