A PROVENANCED COLT .31 LONDON POCKET PERCUSSION REVOLVER, serial no. 8941, in a later case,
the revolver dating to late 1855, with octagonal 5in. barrel signed within brackets on two lines 'ADDRESS COL. COLT, LONDON', open iron frame (traces of colour), roll engraved five shot cylinder, London dome-headed screws, iron grip-straps and trigger guard, the back-strap engraved 'BENTLEY SHAW ESQ'R' and smooth walnut grip, all matching numbers and in a vintage oak casing adapted for this revolver, lined and compartmented in dark green velvet, with reproduction trade label and accessories, the outside of lid inset with an 1851 dated Liberty Dollar coin, together with a file of research on Shaw
Provenance: Mr Bentley Shaw was owner of Woodfield House near Lockwood, Huddersfield, and was the owner of the local Lockwood Brewery. Shaw passed away in 1878 but the house, now two residencies, is still standing
