dated 1874 being the date for the Mark I donor rifle, with 32 1/2in. sighted barrel with proof and inspection marks plus 'J 15 U' on receiver bridge, dropping block lever action, small cocking indicator, receiver stamped with 'VR / ENFIELD / 1874 / lock-viewer's mark / II', the 'II' being offset from the lock-viewer's arrow, plus inspection marks over, walnut stock, butt with Broad Arrow and 'WD' Birmingham roundel, complete with sling swivels, cleaning rod absent and a 3in. closed split to the fore-end in front of the trigger-guard, lever loose in retention cup, 49 1/2in. overall length
