A .450 (3 1/4IN.) BLACK POWDER EXPRESS DOUBLE-BARRELLED ROTARY-UNDERLEVER HAMMER RIFLE, serial no. 4376,
for 1878, 28in. replacement black powder only barrels (Birmingham proofed in 1985 for 310 grs bullet, 100 grs black powder), partially file cut rib, the central section engraved 'ALEXR. HENRY EDINBURGH & LONDON MAKER TO THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESS THE PRINCE OF WALES AND DUKE OF EDINBURGH', open sights with two folding leaf sights marked 50/200, 350 and 500, ramped bead fore-sight, Jones patent rotary underlever, carved percussion fences, non-rebounding back-action locks with bolted hammers, fine border and acanthus scroll engraving, brushed finish, 14 1/4in. well-figured pistolgrip stock with cheekpiece, engraved steel pistolgrip-cap (with trap), sling eyes and engraved steel heel and toe plates, fore-end with grip-catch release lever, weight 9lb. 6oz.

Provenance: The makers records indicate that this rifle was made as a .500 centre-fire double rifle, with Henry rifling (use number 3445), completed on 29th October 1878
