A GOOD PAIR OF BRASS VICTORIAN MINIATURE CANNONS,
circa mid-19th Century, both with open touch-holes, the first a well crafted Lantaka personal cannon from the Malay Archipelago with dolphin handles, circa .53 calibre, 9 3/4in. overall length; the second a garrison cannon and carriage, circa .44 calibre, barrel 6 3/4in. with cascabel, 7in. length including carriage, 3 1/4in. wide, 4 3/4in. high at maximum elevation

Provenance: In the Malay Archipelago, especially in the Borneo and Indonesian islands, miniature or personal cannons such as this were a recognised form of currency as well as status symbols and were often used as dowry payments
