Product Details

A SCARCE EARLY PRODUCTION .22 THEOBEN 'SIROCCO' GAS-RAM AIR-RIFLE, serial no. TB067,
for 1982, with blued 19 1/2in. barrel of Webley origin, no provision for open sights, blued air-chamber fitted with Theoben's patented 'gas-ram' piston, applied sculpted ring-mounts, beech half-stock with rubber recoil pad, the whole appearing little used and in collector's external condition and working order, fitted with a period Tasco 4x32 telescopic sight

Provenance: The English company Theoben (named for Dave Theobald and Ben Taylor) were true pioneers in every sense of the word. Plans for a radical new type of air-rifle powered by compressing an inert sealed cylinder of gas, much in the way a gas shock absorber works, began in 1978. The patent for the idea, (British Patent 2173287) was granted in 1980 and with the acquisition of premises in Cambridge in July 1982, production began in earnest. Serial numbers for the factory produced guns started at TB100, with lower numbers such as TB067 as featured here being considered pre-production models. The Sirocco was one of the more enduring models and went through a number of external and internal changes, finally being discontinued in March 1995
