made in 1908 by Lincoln Jefferies (a similar rifle was produced at the same time by BSA), with 19 1/4in. sighted barrel, straight tap, plain air chamber stamped 'H, THE LINCOLN AIR RIFLE PATENT 8761/04', chequered saw-handled walnut stock, 'REGISTERED LINCOLN JEFFERIES INVENTOR & PATENTEE' and 'REGD. TRADE MARK' with a depiction of a standing shooter stamped in right hand side of stock, length of pull stamped behind pistol grip, cast trigger-guard without tang and under-lever with 'spade' release catch, strong traces of finish
