Product Details

A RARE .177 GEM-STYLE AIR-RIFLE WITH PUSH-BUTTON BARREL RELEASE, BRANDED SUGG, SHEFFIELD, serial no. 2,
for between 1902-05, with blued two-stage 17 1/4in. octagonal to round barrel, dove-tailed blade fore-sight and standing notch rear-sight, plain blued sloping air-chamber with push-button barrel release to left side behind breech, pale walnut butt-stock stamped to both sides with a circle containing 'H.H. B' over 'SUGG' over 'ANGEL ST' and 'SHEFFIELD', no provision for fore-end, the cocking link forming the trigger guard bow, much apparent original finish

Provenance: This rare variation of the gem-type air-rifle is almost certainly of German manufacture, probably by F. Langenhan, and the barrel catch conforms to the type produced on the early Millita air-rifles imported by Martin Pulvermann. This actual rifle is featured on page 126 of Dennis E. Hiller's publication 'The Collectors' Guide to Air Rifles' (Enlarged 4th Edition), where he states at the time of publication only two examples had been noted, this and number 41
