circa 1885, with octagonal 30in. barrel, the top-flat dove-tailed for an adjustable position rear-sight and signed 'C. BORN, BERLIN' in white metal, dove-tailed adjustable fore-sight blade mounted on a moulded plate, elevating tangent rear-sight, colour hardened slab-sided receiver with dropping breech-block operated by an oversized lifting lever secured alongside butt-stock, the action sides inlaid with white metal scrolls and signed 'SYSTEM STAHL' on the left and 'PATENT NO. 1885' on the right, no provision for safe, top-tang integral with moulded platform mounted with a pan-headed aperture sight, figured walnut butt-stock with iron heel-plate, finger-spurred trigger-guard, double-set triggers, plain fore-end with moulded iron tip and replacement brass under-barrel clearing-rod, finish stained and faded to plum, strong colour to breech-block
