circa 1878, 30in. nitro reproved bold damascus barrels, the rib engraved 'T. MILLER. SUNDERLAND. GUARANTEED BEST LAMINATED STEEL', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/2 and 3/4 choke, T. W. Miller patent barrel flats, provisional patent 571 of 15th February 1873, treble-grip action with slender sculpted toplever marked 'Patent', carved percussion fences, fine border and acanthus scroll engraving, retaining very slight traces of colour hardening, some scattered pits, 14 1/4in. well-figured pistolgrip stock with horn pistolgrip-cap and buttplate, fore-end with Scott 1873 'key' patent release catch, weight 6lb. 13oz., in a leather two tiered percussion gun case with Richard Burnand (Newcastle-on-Tyne) trade label and lift out ammunition tray, the lid with makers plaque embossed 'BUSSEY 485 OXFORD ST. LONDON.'
