CHELMSFORD / MASS.' with 'U S / 1863' and inspection mark 'M' over, brass guard and hilt with black painted wooden grip bound with white wire, together with its steel scabbard with two suspension rings, small loss from grip, scabbard with rust patches and pitted at the throat, 42 in. overall
