A CASED .31 PERCUSSION COLT 1849 POCKET REVOLVER, serial no. 48691,
for 1852, with 6in. octagonal barrel signed on the top-flat on two lines, open iron frame, roll engraved replacement cylinder (numbered 44884), silver plated brass grip-straps and trigger guard (much plate remaining) and smooth walnut flared grip, in a probable original US market casing for the same revolver, radiused edges to the lid, the interior lined and compartmented in blue velvet and complete with a period flask, cleaning rod, bullet mould and cap-tin, later nipple key and turnscrew, the inside of lid with parchment Colt instruction label, the outer escutcheon engraved 'Mr H ?, 1847', surname obscured
