A .577 PERCUSSION PATTERN 1856 TWO BAND VOLUNTEER SHORT RIFLE BY JEFFERSON OF SCARBOROUGH, no visible serial number,
circa 1860, with 33in. Birmingham proofed barrel, the breech engraved with the retailers name 'J. JEFFERSON, SCARBOROUGH', rifled with three grooves and fitted with a Pattern 1856 bayonet lug at muzzle, barleycorn front-sight and ladder rear-sight, borderline engraved lock stamped with the Crown V.R. cypher on the tail and '1860 / TOWER', to the centre, regulation iron mounted full walnut stock, complete with sling swivels, old brown leather sling and original loading rod
