A RARE GERMAN WORLD WAR II RICHTKREIS 31 FIELD GUN SIGHT AND PERISCOPE, circa mid-1930s, sight marked 'Wichmann' and numbered '84395', periscope marked 'HILDEBRAND- / WICHMANN WERKE / FREIBERG-SA.' clear image with graticule, light service-wear with a side-plate missing from the sight, 13 1/2 in with a wooden display stand; "Richtkreis 31" aiming circle with its accessories and carrying case. The RK 31 helped aim indirect firing weapons from machine guns to heavy artillery and could be used for direct observation and measurement of direction using its internal compass or placed on a map to plot postions and landmarks.
