WILLIAM EVANS 12-BORE BOXLOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 13278, for 1924, 30in. nitro barrels, the rib engraved 'WILLIAM EVANS. 63, PALL MALL, ST. JAMES'S, LONDON.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, treble-grip action with carved fences and removable striker discs, automatic safety, border and scroll engraving, retaining traces of original colour-hardening, 14 3/4in. stock, weight 6lb. 8oz., in a canvas case

Provenance: The case has a William Evans storage label inscribed 'Lt Col. G.C.S.B. Cooke and a second address label made out the same.

Lt. Col. Geoffrey Charles Sidney Bancroft Cooke (1897 - 1980) served with the Royal Garrison Artillery during the Great War and subsequently with the Royal Artillery between 1922 and 1948. He also played first class cricket for the British Army cricket team against the Royal Navy at Lords in 1925 and against Cambridge University at Fenner's in 1926
