circa 1898, 26in. nitro reproved damascus barrel (in 1971), the top roll stamped 'MARLIN FIRE-ARMS CO., NEW-HAVEN. CT. U.S.A. PAT'D NOV. 6. 1894. MAY 12. 1896. & JUNE 2. 1896.', 2 3/4in. chamber, bored approx. 1/4 choke, barrel numbered 7915 M, exposed hammer with half-cock safe (at fault), gold-washed trigger, stepped action with border and acanthus scroll engraving surrounding game scene vignettes of woodcock and partridge, retaining traces of finish, 13 3/4in. ornately chequered pistolgrip stock including trademark buttplate, replacement pump grip, weight 6lb. 11oz.
