for King's Co. (Offaly), manufactured circa 1815, with 14 3/4in. two-stage octagonal to round barrel with strongly flared offset muzzle, moulded bands at the intersections, the top-flat signed in script 'RIGBY, DUBLIN' together with the registration number and a naive armourial, a band of florets to the fore, iron top-tang engraved with a musical trophy, borderline engraved lock signed 'LYNCH', swan-necked cock, semi rainproof pan and roller spring for the frizzen, walnut full-stock with exposed muzzle (repaired at muzzle, large burn mark to right of comb), brass furniture, the heel-plate stamped with a matching registration number, brass tipped ramrod and iron stirrup swivels

Provenance: The name 'Lynch' on the lock is probably for Jonathan Lynch of Roscrea, Tipperary, who may well have manufactured this piece using a Rigby barrel
