circa 1860, with blued octagonal 7 1/4in. barrel, the top-flat signed 'BERTONNET A BUENOS AYRES & PARIS' (sic), dove-tailed beaded-blade fore-sight, sighting notch to the hammer nose, plain six-shot blued cylinder, each chamber with removable auxiliary 'cartridge' chamber with side mounted nipple, allowing use of pinfire or percussion systems, scroll engraved open iron frame signed 'E. LEFAUCHEUX INVR. BREVETE', the frame with exaggerated cut-out for the clearance of the nipples, bun-nut take-down screw to front of frame with apertures for a tightening key, single action trigger mechanism, spurred trigger guard and chequered one-piece walnut grip with iron domed pommel-cap, strong amount of finish remaining and complete with its continental market wood storage case lined in red velvet (faded to terracotta) and complete with mould, flask, oil bottle, nipple key and cleaning rod
