circa 1865, with octagonal to round 6in. barrel, applied fore-sight, sighting notch to the hammer nose, the octagonal section with foliate engraving and marked with a crown over 'EL' for Lefaucheux, plain cylinder with external ratchet locking and a broad central engraving of vines running around the circumference, borderline and foliate engraved open frame, loading gate hinged on applied boss, full pin shield, chequered bag-shaped ebony grips with gadrooned pommel, lanyard ring at heel, guarded trigger and spurred hammer
