A RARE .32 PERCUSSION E. WHITNEY 'TWO-TRIGGER' HAND-INDEXED POCKET REVOLVER, serial no. T7,
manufactured between 1852-4, with octagonal 5in. barrel signed on the top-flat 'E. WHITNEY NEW HAVEN CT.', bead fore-sight, no provision for rear-sight, solid brass frame with traces of silver plated finish, iron five-shot cylinder with front locking notches, iron trigger guard bow with additional auxiliary trigger mounted forwards of the front of guard to release the cylinder for indexing, central hammer (repaired), smooth flared walnut grips (chipping to heel and lower edges), exposed iron surfaces fine pitted and frosted
Provenance: Desperate to avoid patent infringements with their arch rival Colt, E. Whitney's first conventional-looking revolver was not equipped with automatic indexing and had to be hand rotated for each shot. Only about 600 of this model were produced, with an additional 50 being made with an iron frame
