A PATTERN 1845 INFANTRY OFFICER'S SWORD, mid-19th Century, with 32 1/4 in. single-edged blade fullered and etched with scroll-work and royal cypher on each side, ricasso marked 'NICHOLLS & SON, / 41 JERMYN ST / LONDON', with proved plug over. brass hilt and folding guard with royal cypher, wire-bound grip, together with its steel scabbard, worn, fish-skin absent from grip, grip with loss to the wood at the pommel end, scabbard painted black over rust and denting, 38 1/2 in. overall
