A 22-BORE PERCUSSION SILVER-MOUNTED DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING GUN BY TALABERT VAMOTTE A ST. ETIENNE , no visible serial number,
French with hallmarks for between 1798-1809, converted from flintlock circa 1835, with 35 3/4in. sighted barrels, grooved tang engraved with rococo ornament, border engraved locks respectively signed 'TALABERT VAMOTTE' and 'A ST. ETIENNE', figured walnut half-stock (long scratches to right hand side of wrist, cheek-piece inserted, fore-end repaired) carved in relief with a dragon's head behind the grip, chequered grip and fore-end, silver mounts including hallmarked trigger-guard with foliate finial, sling eyes, and period ramrod (cleaned bright, some staining and blind pitting)
