A MATCHED PAIR OF COGSWELL & HARRISON LTD 12-BORE (CROSSOVER) 'THE AVANT TOUT' SIDEPLATED BOXLOCK EJECTORS, serial no. 219810 / 42357, circa 1892 and 1908, 29 7/8in. nitro barrels, ribs engraved '1' and '2' at the breech ends and 'COGSWELL & HARRISON LTD THE AVANT TOUT 141 NEW BOND ST. & 226 STRAND. LONDON.', No.2 with both top rib and under rib detached (present) and missing short rib and loop, Harrison patent ejector system and extractors, rusting to inner sides of tubes, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke, treble-grip actions, automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, floral and scroll engraving, the decorative sideplates and tangs fully swept, 16in. crossover stocks (right shoulder-left eye)including 1/2in. wooden extensions and 3/4in. recoil pads, damage to fore-end wood No.1, weight 6lb. 13oz. (No.1) and 6lb. 10oz. (No.2), in a leather double motor case
