A VICTORIAN PAINTED TRUNCHEON FOR THE MANCHESTER POLICE, SIGNED CADDYCK, LIVERPOOL,
circa 1860, with black painted 13 1/2in. slightly reverse tapered body hand painted with a polychromatic Queen's crown over '1' over 'V.R.', the lower section with a rococo gilt-bordered red panel incorporating 'MANCHESTER' and with further gilded arabesques, turned ribbed boxwood handle swelling at the centre, signed mushroom pommel and fitted with a buff leather wrist-strap, some fading to paintwork
