A 12-BORE EASY-OPENING SIDELOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 5295,
circa 1905, 28in. nitro barrels, the rib re-engraved 'BOSS & CO. 73, ST. JAMES'S STREET, LONDON', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and 1/4 choke, some pitting, automatic safety, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, rolled-edge triggerguard, best fine acanthus scroll engraving with floral bouquets, 15 1/8in. figured replacement stock (by the makers in 1990), weight 6lb. 10oz., in a brass-cornered oak and leather case

Other Notes: An invoice from Boss & Co. dating to 1990 confirms the following work was carried out by them:

"Re-stocking to your measurements
New top lever
Polish out barrels (not removing pits), repair dents in barrels, strike off bulges on the outside, re-fix ribs, fit a new cross pin and re-black barrels, strip and clean gun, regreaseing (sic) where necessary and the pins and screws previously listed replaced
Secondhand oak and leather single case
2-snaps oil bottle and selvyt"
the invoice totalling £4801.75
and on the reverse:
"Extra for Re-engraving name address etc. on barrels
Extra for re-blacking barrels"
with a final total of £4951.25
