A BETTER PAIR OF PATTERN 1856/58 YATAGHAN SWORD BAYONETS FOR THE P53 ENFIELD RIFLE, circa late 1850s, each with 23in. steel blade fullered on each side, steel cross-guards, black pressed leather grips, bird's head pommels and leaf-spring catches, together with their black leather scabbards with steel fittings; the first with ricasso with Broad Arrow and 'WD' above a Birmingham repair mark, with the Kirschbaum Solingen knight's head mark over, cross-guard stamped '955', chape and locket stapled to the rear, chape with flattened end; the second with polished blade, ricasso marked '+7', no other marks visible, cross-guard indistinctly numbered, scabbard painted, locket and chape stapled front and rear, rounded tip to chape, surface rust on exposed steelwork
