for 1965, 28in. nitro chopperlump barrels, the ribs engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS. AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON. ENGLAND.' and '1' and '2' at the breech ends and to the rear lumps, 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/2 choke;
additional 29in. nitro chopperlump barrels for No.1 with raised tapered matted rib, the tubes engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS. AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON. ENGLAND.', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and full choke, toplevers engraved '1' and '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, removable striker discs, cocking-indicators, the fences carved in high relief with leaf and berry designs on a stippled background, the action, lockplates and furniture with Purdey 'large scroll' engraving, the makers name to elaborate cartouches on the lockplates, the undersides with 'J. PURDEY & SONS. LONDON' in further cartouches, retaining very slight traces of original colour-hardening, 15 1/4in. figured stocks including 1 3/8in. wooden extensions, chequering refreshed, weight 6lb. 12oz. and 6lb. 14oz. (No.1 with 29in. barrels), in their brass-cornered oak and leather case with provision for all three sets of barrels

Provenance: We are kindly informed that the guns were completed in 1965 for a Robert de Balkany with 28in. barrels and an additional set of 29in. barrels for the No.1 gun and with large scroll engraving by Casbard
