A PATTERN 1845 INFANTRY OFFICER'S SWORD, circa 1850, with 32 1/2 in. single-edged blade, fullered and etched on each side, ricasso with traces of retailer with 'proof' plug over, brass hilt, gothic guard of the earlier 1822 pattern with hinged sidepiece, royal cypher and original shagreen liner, original bullioned sword-knot, copper wire bound black fish-skin grip, together with its steel scabbard with two suspension loops, worn, blade with heavy pitting obscuring much of the etching, scabbard painted black, worn with some pitting at the chape but free from denting
