STEPHEN GRANT 12-BORE 1871 PATENT SIDELEVER HAMMERGUN, serial no. 4149, for 1876, 28in. black powder only bold damascus barrels (possibly shortened), the rib engraved 'STEPHEN GRANT. 67A ST. JAMES'S STREET. LONDON.' and '2', 2 1/2in. chambers, true cyl. in both, some dents and pitting, incorporating E.C. Hodges patent treble-grip action, patent no. 251 of 31st January 1871, use number 638, carved percussion fences, rebounding back-action locks, fine acanthus scroll engraving, some screwheads replaced/burred, much wear to triggerguard, 14 1/2in. figured stock (cracked at hand) with steel heel and toe plates with inset horn buttplate, fore-end wood with losses and damage, weight 6lb. 12oz.
