circa 1854, with blued octagonal 6 1/4in. barrel, dove-tailed blade fore-sight, the top-strap signed 'J. BEATTIE, 205 REGENT ST. LONDON', engraved band at muzzle, scroll engraving to barrel-throat, plain cylinder with rope-twist border to leading edge, borderline and scroll engraved frame with inverted 'Y' shaped safe spring, chequered walnut semi-sawhandled swept one-piece grip, engraved and moulded iron butt-cap and swinging rammer marked 'W. TRANTER'S PATENT' mounted to left of frame, retaining a strong amount of an older London blued finish, complete with a period walnut storage case compartmented and lined in green baize and a full suite of period accessories including matching number mould, the inside of lid with parchment Beattie trade label, escutcheon absent from the outside of lid
