for 1897, 28in. black powder only fine damascus barrels with Henry rifling, partially matted broad rib with open sights and folding leaf sight for 200 yards and bead foresight, rib engraved 'ALEXr. HENRY LTD. MAKERS TO HER MAJESTY. EDINBURGH AND LONDON.', Henry patent treble-grip action, patent no. 5273 of 1882 with fluted fences, left side-opening rotary underlever, automatic safety with blue enamel 'S' detail, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, swept back-action lockplates, fine acanthus scroll engraving with beaded and crosshatch borders, retaining some original colour-hardening, 14 3/4in. slightly cast on figured pistolgrip stock with cheekpiece on the right, engraved sling eyes, engraved and colour-hardened pistolgrip-cap (with trap), engraved steel heel and toe plates, fore-end with finely engraved grip-catch release, weight 9lb. 11oz.
