A .36 PERCUSSION AMERICAN PLAINS RIFLE SIGNED PARTRIDGE, no visible serial number,
circa 1870, with heavy blued octagonal 32in. barrel, the left flat marked at breech 'REMINGTON, CAST STEEL', nickel blade fore-sight, bevel-edged buckhorn rear-sight, engraved bands to muzzle and breech, the breech with twin plugged holes for a previous sight now absent and fitted with a drum and nipple set-up, border and foliate engraved top-tang with two vacant tapped apertures for a peep-sight (also absent), borderline and scroll engraved bar-action lock signed in script 'PARTRIDGE' and also featuring an engraving of a standing shooter to the tail (rubbed), walnut half-stock with moulded cheek-piece and fitted with white metal furniture and inlays including a bolting stag to the cheek-piece, engraved patch-box and eagle-shaped barrel key escutcheons, double set triggers and scrolled guard, plain ramrod thimbles (under-rib lifting) and partial replacement ramrod
