for 1919, 29in. nitro reproved chopperlump barrels (in 1966), rib engraved '2' and 'J. PURDEY & SONS. AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON. MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID-PRESSED STEEL' (rubbed), 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 3/4 choke, left wall at 16, self-opening action, removable striker discs, toplever engraved '2', manual safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, cocking-indicators, best fine border and acanthus scroll engraving with floral bouquets, retaining traces of original colour-hardening and finish, 14 1/2in. figured stock (possible replacement) including 1/2in. ventilated rubber recoil pad, weight 6lb. 10oz., together with a leather leg of mutton guncase
