for between 1835-44, bar-action with border, scroll and gamescene engraving, the bars signed 'JNO. MANTON & SON, PATENT', engraved hammers with asymmetrical noses, lightly cleaned of finish with crisp detail

Provenance: Neal & Back's publication 'The Manton Supplement' says on page 83 that the barrels for the original gun were 17-bore and apparently shortened and re-engraved 'Joseph Manton, London' they were last known fitted to Joseph Manton's gun no. 5588
