A RARE .32 (RIMFIRE) TIP-UP POCKET REVOLVER, serial no. 43,
circa 1865, with 4in. octagonal barrel signed on the top-flat 'WORCESTER MASS.', the left side top-flat additionally marked 'PAT'D JULY 10 1860', the brass top-strap signed 'L.W. POND, MAKER' then with the aforementioned details repeated, tip-up two piece brass frame hinged at rear of top-strap, Smith & Wesson style release catch to front-lower frame, plain six-shot iron cylinder, exposed hammer, spur trigger and smooth flared walnut grips, the heel with provision for an ejector-rod (absent)

Provenance: Pond was later prosecuted for infringement of the Rollin White 'bored through cylinder' patent. Many later revolvers have 'Made For Smith & Wesson' on them, as Pond forfeited all his stock after the court case
