A .660 FLINTLOCK EAST INDIA SADDLE-CARBINE SIGNED GOFF, no visible serial number,
dated for 1802, with round iron 26in. barrel marked 'GOFF.1802' together with the East India Company heart-shaped trademark near breech, applied boat-shaped fore-sight, moulded band to rear of breech, London proofs, solid square-tipped top-tang, plain lock of military style signed 'GOFF' below the pan and dated and trademarked at the tail, swan-necked cock, walnut handrail full-stock with unusual underslung saddle-bar mounted between the ramrod throat and front of trigger guard bow and fitted with a loose saddle-ring, brass furniture and iron ramrod, shallow pitting to exposed iron surfaces of barrel
Provenance: This carbine is almost certainly from the workshops of Daniel Goff, who was contracted to the East India Company between 1780-1839
